A Modern Living And Working Space
A Modern Lilving And Working Space

The yacht - such an awesome sailing machine exposed to the forces of the high seas - provides at the same time a generous, sensual, inspiring exterior and interior environment.

The design brief for the living and working space was consequent minimalist. Every line, curve and nuance, every feature, fixture and fitting has to have its purpose. It has to serve a function of speed, stability, safety and comfort. Everything has to be thought through in advance, flawlessly designed and executed. Everything has to look eager and able to perform.

The exterior arrangements reflect an uncluttered modernist design. The sleek lines and length of the design are accentuated by the majestic blue of the hull which wraps over the wide caprail. Deck structure, mast and boom are painted in silver metallic. The plum bow, the flat transom and low deck house, the long sleek air intake slots convey a racing image. The curve of the bow just floats above the water, a visual impression of the yacht's lightness and speed. The deck is flush providing ample moving space. The cockpit allows well protected and comfortable outside living. From the twin steering stations the helmsman has a total view of the bow.

For protection from weather and sun the yacht can operate separately a dodger, a bimini above the helm stand, a bimini covering the entire cockpit or two large sun awnings. All constructions are optimized for fast and easy handling and a flush stow away.

The spacious interior is optimized for lightness and efficiency. The boat accommodates eighteen berths with seven heads/showers. Three separate companionways allow easy access. The upper and lower saloons are implemented in an open loft style. The view from the upper dining room and navigation/communication station is panoramic. The large windows, of which two open, are glued directly into the structure and float uninterrupted into the teak deck giving an unobstructed view and bringing the outside in. The lower saloon is flooded with light from the huge deck house windows and opens up to a spectacular view up into the endless rig.

The finish of the walls and furniture is in specially treated UV resistant light Canadian maple. Fixture and fittings are in brushed stainless steel. Sofas, covers and beds are in natural colours and fabrics. Stand alone furniture finished in leather discreetly add a fine touch of elegance. Floors are laid in hard rock maple. The overhead liners are off-white satin lacquered. For weight saving the construction consists of a honeycomb core with thin cosmetic wood veneers on visible surfaces. Careful illumination with indirect lighting and selected spots underline the elegant simplicity. The geometry of line and form is followed in every detail: design to its purest conclusion.

The living and working space is light, soft and sensual, a home base from which to explore the world.
